As Director of Television at CTC Productions, Rick oversaw the television output of one of Australia's preeminent lifestyle entertainment production companies. During this time, Rick was Executive Producer of the multi Logie Award-winning Backyard Blitz, a show that for seven years was a flagship brand for the Nine Network and a constant performer in the weekly ratings rankings. In fact, in its launch year Backyard Blitz was the number one rating program for the week a massive 15 times and was the most watched local series for the year on Australian television.
Rick was also the Executive Producer of the 42 episode-a-year Burke’s Backyard as well as series 1 of Renovation Rescue.
In July of 2007, Rick was appointed Head of Production and Development at Freehand productions, working closely with BBC Worldwide to create and take to market both BBC and locally designed formats. He was also the Executive in Charge of Production for Outback Wildlife Rescue, a factual series for the Seven Network and BBC Worldwide sold to many territories across the globe.
In his development role at Freehand, Rick identified Costa Georgiadis as a major talent and worked with him and Associate Producer Sean Kennedy to create Costa’s Garden Odyssey.
Star Jump Media was created in early 2009 with Rick’s partner, Sonya Hillenberg. Star Jump Media has already Executive Produced the first series of Costa’s Garden Odyssey for SBS and is currently consulted to the ABC on how to re-launch their factual entertainment slate for 2010. Star Jump is currently producing Australian Renovations, a flagship brand for the How TO Channel.
