When I first walked into this house I saw so much potential. I walked into the first bedroom and said to Alex ' this is it lets buy it'. With Alex wanting to do more research we walked out of the house without putting an offer in. As per usual I was the emotional one when it came to the purchase, I sat in the car and just cried as I was 7 months pregnant and wanted to move in before Olivia was born.

I could see that the house had good structure and it could be turned into a fabulous family home which we would entertain our family and friends in.

4 years later we decided to bite the bullet and complete the renovations to the back half of the house, knowing we would need to borrow money from the bank made both of us a little nervous, but in the end it has been worth every dollar we have spent.

It has been a journey of unexpected turns and at time delays. At times I have been excited and at times really thought what have we done and wanted to pull the pin especially when your family home is turned into a construction site and you have little or no control over some situations. I never thought of myself as a control freak, but now I understand that I like to be in control but sometimes need to let go.

Any advice I can offer anyone considering renovating, make sure you plan ahead, getting plans drawn up it is imperative to the design process which really helped us. Talk to your council about your plans and if you need a development application allow plenty of time for approval. Most of all communicate with your partner the whole way through the renovations so you understand each others expectations because I can tell you that you won't always agree on the same things.

I sit back now and look at our beautiful and functional loungeroom, kitchen, bathroom and outdoor living space what more could we ask for. Now we are all said and done it has been an adventure and we now have a beautiful house which we can enjoy and relax in.

The producer asked me whether we would renovate again... yes we will definitely, but will probably leave it for another couple of years before we make the next move. Next time there will be things that we do differently. It has been a fantastic experience being apart of the Australian Renovation series. The cast and crew have been amazing along our renovations, it has been a pleasure. Thank you and I hope we cross paths again soon.
